Fencing in Kent

Purpose

The KCAFU exists to promote the sport of fencing in the county of Kent. Please see the fencing page for a quick summary of the sport, if you are not familiar with it.

The national governing body for fencing in the UK is British Fencing (BF). Within that are the regions, with Kent in the South-East Region, along with Surrey and Sussex.

There is some fencing within schools, but generally restricted to pupils. Most adult fencing takes place in clubs that meet in the evenings. There is a link at the bottom of the page to the BF club finder, if you are interested in finding clubs near you. Clubs should normally provide the necessary equipment for beginners to have a go.

Fencing is open to all ages. Most clubs will have a lower age limit of around to 7-8 years, but check out your local clubs, because they may vary. There are many older fencers and veterans fencing, as it is known, is quite popular, with competitions for age groups from 40 to 70+.
